This online abrasive wheel awareness course is aimed at anyone who uses abrasive wheels, or employs people who use abrasive wheels as part of their work and would like e-learning. It is not a substitute for practical training. In addition to this course, practical training is recommended.

Abrasive wheel applications range from hand held grinding, non precision grinding, precision grinding to cutting with hand held grinders, petrol cut off saws, chop saws etc. They can be used at all stages of a work process, for making preliminary cuts and scores in materials, or for fine polishing and finishing.

Different wheels will have different properties and characteristics suitable for particular tasks. They also have different weaknesses and can pose different risks and hazards in handling and use. For this reason, it’s important that you always select the right abrasive wheel for the job and use it with the right machinery.

This online abrasive wheel awareness course consists of 11 modules with questions at the end. You are given the chance to review all your answers at the end of each module before final submission and you will be given 3 attempts at each module to achieve a pass rate of 70% or higher.

Who Should take this Course?

This course is suitable for anyone who uses abrasive wheels in their work activities.

The course is particularly relevant for those who use bench grinders, pedestal grinders and angle grinders. Although the training doesn’t cover the use of specialist grinding machines, the health and safety information throughout the course is still applicable.

This course has been written at an introductory level and no pre-requisite training is required. Experience of using abrasive wheels would be advantageous.

Online abrasive wheel training will not give you the same level of training as you would receive from an experienced knowledgeable tutor, however online training can compliment previous tutor led training sessions and is ideal for refresher training.
