01 Sep Celebrations as TTS Turns 15
So today TTS turns 15! I can’t believe we have been going for 15 years. We are obviously a lot greyer, a few more wrinkles but we are certainly a lot wiser than we were back at the start.
The last 15 years has seen our business weather a double dip recession, Brexit, a pandemic and many more hurdles in between. Over this time, we have consistently strived to move with the times. The foundation of our business is a healthy repeat customer base. Some of whom, have been with us since the start. Over the years our customer portfolio has grown. We have forged great working relationships with a wide spectrum of valued customers.
TTS at 15
At the heart of our business is the desire to provide the best possible training and testing services whilst delivering a high standard of customer service.
Today we are proud to deliver training and testing to the highest industry standards. Our accreditations with the British Abrasives Federation, Fit2Fit and NUCO are testament to the quality of training. In addition to this we have approval from Fit2Fit for our face fit testing and deliver Ofqual regulated first aid training. We are also, proud members of the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF).
Whilst TTS turns 15 we look at what has changed in that time.
Face Fit Testing
Our team are all fit2fit accredited. In line with the HSE guidance the accreditation scheme is one way we prove our competence. It gives the customer piece of mind that we deliver compliant face fit testing. In addition to this, our team can conduct specialist fit2fit accredited dual testing.
Face Fit Training
At the height of the covid pandemic – back in 2020, we were delighted to achieve fit2fit approval of both our qualitative and quantitative training courses. This means that our face fit train the tester courses have been independently assessed and are approved by fit2fit. Giving the customer piece of mind that our course is compliant. Not only this, but our team are qualified trainers. So, we are not just face fit testers delivering a course, our team have decades of teaching experience whilst also being qualified face fit testers.
Abrasive Wheel Training
Having started our business back in 2008, our focus was abrasive wheel training. In this time, we have rapidly become the leading supplier of BAF accredited abrasive wheel training. We have developed a bespoke training programme which focusses specifically on the machine types. This makes the learning journey tailored to your exact requirements. We are one of only 2 companies in the UK accredited to deliver training on all machine types. Precision grinding is one of our specialities and is something our experienced team can deliver on your site. Not only are our trainers experienced abrasive wheel operators, but they are also qualified trainers. We have written scores of training programmes for our customers.
Abrasive Wheel Train the Trainer
Having developed our train the trainer programme. We tailor all our course to the end users requirements. We have developed over 14 different courses. Attending our course means that you will be trained to a BAF accredited standard. From there you can purchase all, or a number of different training packages. The abrasive wheel train the trainer course is a great steppingstone to achieving your own BAF accreditation.
First Aid Training
Our first aid training is accredited by NUCO and delivered by an experienced team with decades of experience. All the training is Ofqual regulated. This means that our customers can be confident that our training is compliant. With a large portfolio of courses available we specialise in EFAW, First Aid at Work and Forestry.
Open Courses
With training centres in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire and Morden, Surrey (South London). Our training centres are easily accessible with close links to road, rail, motorways and tube (Morden only). Both our training centres have ample parking. If visiting our Knaresborough training centre we have bespoke face fit testing stations – perfect when learning how to conduct a face fit test. The courses that we currently offer at our centres include face fit train the tester – Qualitative Train the Tester (fit2fit approved), Quantitative Train the Tester (fit2fit approved) and Abrasive Wheel Train the Trainer (BAF certified). In addition to this, quite often our own customers make use of our premises for the training when space is at a premium for us to deliver it on their site/premises.
Charity Work
In the 15 years that TTS has existed, we have made regular donations to charity.
Our annual Christmas charity donation in lieu of Christmas cards is made to Macmillan cancer support. A charity that has personally helped us over the years. We have also sponsored a junior team at Harrogate Railway.
In addition to this, since 2022 we have worked very closely with Yorkshire Aid Convoy. This charity is run entirely on donations and the trustees have made trips to the Ukraine and Romania for over 20 years. The Ukraine support was never needed more than when the war broke out.
In 2022 we felt compelled to do something worthwhile and decided to donate one of our mobile classrooms. Having met with Mark and Gary (two of the trustees) our Director – Dave and Southern Area Training Manager – Richard, volunteered to travel the epic journey with the convoy to deliver our truck – Trish. Since then, our work with this charity has continued. Richard and Dave have joined additional trips to the Ukraine. Dave is joining the impending trip to Romania at the end of September. Not to mention the sponsored walk back in May. Our support will continue. To find out more about this amazing charity why not visit their website: Yorkshire Aid Convoy
Work Life Balance
As TTS turns 15, we have seen growth, professionally and personally. We are a family run business, supported by a dedicated team of professionals who work very long hours. This year has seen us streamline our business and processes in a bid to promote a healthy work-life balance. We now work smarter, rather than harder. There is no expectations to answer emails when not in the office and we embrace flexi-working. This is just one part of our long-term plan.
Thank you
As ever, we would not be here if it wasn’t for the dedication of our brilliant staff/associates, and continued support from our amazing customers. Thank you so much for the last 15 years. We look forward to what 2023/2024 brings and could not do it without you all. Thank you and if we can help with any training or testing requirements why not contact our team today.
