Here at TTS our Emergency First Aid at Work course is one of our most popular first aid courses. Occasionally referred to as an EFAW course, the training is one day in duration.
This one-day qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.
Course Content
The Emergency First Aid at Work covers a range of subjects which includes:
- Responsibilities and reporting
- Resuscitation and AED awareness
- Burns
- Assessment of the situation
- Anatomy
- Choking
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Minor injuries
- Epilepsy
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Bleeding control
- Shock
Certification
The course is a level 3/6: 1-day training course. This means that the first aid training can be delivered as FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid (RQF) or Award in Emergency First Aid at Work at SCQF Level 6.
This qualification is regulated in the UK and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA). FAA are an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation. The qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). Additionally the qualification is delivered, assessed, and quality assured. The course adheres to the Assessment Principles for Regulated First Aid Qualifications. While being delivered and assessed in accordance with the current Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines.
All our first aid training courses are delivered by NUCO approved instructors.
Practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor. A three year qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria. In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of three hours. Please contact us for details of our annual refresher course.
Who Should Attend
Specifically suitable where a first aid needs assessment identifies the necessity for an emergency first aider in the workplace. This 6-hour qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. The learner will gain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a wide range of workplace first aid situations.
In addition the qualification is also suitable for people with responsibility for the provision of first aid in other settings i.e. voluntary and community groups.
Where is the Training
We offer the option of delivering the Emergency First Aid at Work training on your site or premises anywhere in mainland UK for a maximum of 12 trainees per day. Alternatively, we run open courses at our training centres in North Yorkshire or South London.
